Enough is never enough when it comes to certain people trying to pass gun control bills. It’s one of those things that I still can’t quite wrap my head around. “Magazines that hold >10 rounds of ammo don’t belong on our streets or in our schools.” That’s what Sen. Robert Menendez tweeted the other day. There’s just one small piece of information that he’s forgetting; bad guys don’t care about laws.
Seriously, they don’t.
The 2015 gun control debate was kicked off with the help of Newtown activists by introducing a ‘gun safety bill’ that will <sarcasm> no doubt stop criminals from getting their hands on magazines that hold more than 10 rounds. </sarcasm>
The bill would ban large capacity ammunition clips for everyone but military members and law enforcement officers. It was introduced by Rep. Elizabeth Esty, D-5th District, in the House and Sen. Bob Menendez, D-N.J., in the Senate.
The bill’s proponents characterized the legislation as a needed safety measure, like seat belts or airbags, that would save lives, not only those threatened by a mass murderer, but also police who are often outgunned by criminals.
The article referenced makes note of the dreaded ‘magazine clips’ and while it sure does sound like a scary thing, I’m still not quite sure what they are, as I am unaware of a firearm that uses magazine clips. I’m still looking, though.
The bill is named the Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device Act. The bill would ban the importation, sale, manufacture, transfer, or possession of magazines that hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition.
MSNBC was quick to mention that the gunman in the Sandy Hook shooting used 30 round magazines, but they also failed to bring up the fact that he only fired about 15 rounds from some of those magazines before reloading. But you know, facts.
And so, a campaign was kicked off that uses the hashtag #SayNo2MoreAmmo.

While I’m obviously not a fan of mass murder or the loss of innocent lives, this isn’t the way to stop people from committing these horrible acts. For (not) the last time, the people who commit these acts do not care about the laws that are on the books. Don’t forget, most of these incidents wind up being suicide missions. No law in the world can punish a dead gunman.
