I can remember going to the gun shop as soon as I got my permit, and checking out the different selection of firearms that are suitable for concealed carry.
I was completely in the dark.
I had a list in my head of firearm recommendations that people had given me. A Glock 26 or 27, a Ruger SR9c, multiple Springfields, and some revolvers.
The employee that I spoke with was very helpful, and she told me “You really need to hold them in your hand to see how they feel. That’s an important part.”
I took her advice and asked to see a few different firearms, taking my time to get a good grip and feel on each of them. I asked her if I could dry-fire them and she said “Yes, and thank you for asking!”
After looking at a half dozen firearms, I ask to see the Glock 27 next. It was a perfect fit in my hand. I knew at that moment that it was the one.
And it’s still the one.
All in all, including research and checking them out in person, it took me a good two months to pick the right firearm. What about you?
