Random Thoughts: How Much Ammo Should I Stock?

Let’s face it; you can never have too much ammo. I get asked the question often though, “How much ammo should I have?” I’ve made the answer simple for myself and my current needs. . .

On-hand, I keep a minimum of 1,500 rounds per caliber I use. It basically gets me through a normal 6 months at the range.

To some, that’s an insane amount. To others, that’s a drop in the bucket. Based on how much I go to the range and what I like to have sitting around, that’s a good number for me. It’s usually enough of a buffer to get me through any “dry spells” when ammo may be harder to find… or too expensive… while allowing me to continue my regular trips to the range.

How about you? How much ammo do you like to keep in your reserves?
